This Strictly Hard Bean Coffee was produced by ASOBAGRI (Asociación Barillense de Agricultores), an association created in 1989 by a small group of farmers seeking better social and working conditions. Today, ASOBAGRI groups more than 1000 producers, 95 of which are women who produce their own coffee. All ASOBAGRI members produce certified organic, Fair Trade, Café Femenino, and Bird Friendly coffee.
ASOBAGRI operates mainly in the Barillas Municipality, in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala. High altitude, volcanic soils, abundant rainfalls provide the perfect environment for coffee plants . Strictly Hard Bean coffees are produced at altitudes ranging from 1,300 to 1,600 masl.
