OUR FEATURED COFFEE
Sol y Cafe
Sol y Cafe
Sol y Cafe from Peru!
Once again we're happy to have obtained a few sacks of Sol y Cafe from Peru. A favorite from last year, this year's crop will not disappoint.
Grown at at altitudes of 900 to 2050 metres, in Northern Peru this hard bean coffee is certified as Organic by USDA and Biolatina. Sol y Cafe hasalso earned certification by the Rainforest Alliance. Rice and cacao is grown alongside the coffee.
Sol y Cafe is a success story as Peruvian Coffee is starting to gain recognition in the world-wide specialty coffee market. Growing and processing coffee is a complex and labour intensive process, and Soly y Cafe brings together small producers in a co-op to share resources and profits.
The coffee cherries are hand washed and sun-dried.
In our opinion this coffee is best enjoyed in our dark or french roasts, with rich body and sweet caramel notes.
The video below gives a good overview of the Co-op and the environment that this delicious coffee is grown in.
