Green Coffee Beans puff up when roasted - a bit like popcorn. The more they are roasted, the darker the bean becomes - and French Roast is the darkest we roast - the line between French Roast and burnt beans is a fine one - a real flirtation with fire on our charcoal-fired roaster.
But I digress.
Packing French Roasted beans has always been a challenge because the volume of the puffed beans exceeds the bags capacity, putting a strain on the bag seams ... and the packer!
Our new Peruvian Beans, for example, in a French Roast, just won't fit in our standard 1lb valved bags.
As a temporary measure (you may have heard that before!) - we will pack our French Roasted beans in 400 gram bags - and charge $1.50 less
We certainly don't want to abandon our French Roast Loving friends - loyal customers from the beginning - and are looking into finding a supplier of slightly larger volume bags - but no success yet.
We do find our one price for all 1lb bags to be simple for you - simple for us.
One alternative would be to reduce the size of all our 1lb bags to 400g - with a similar price adjustment of say, $1.50.
Ideally we would like to find some packaging that is compostable and/or fully recyclable - we are always open to suggestions!
How would that work for you? ... slightly smaller bag at lower cost?
If you'd like to try some yourself, come see us at the Farmer's Market in N. Battleford Saturday morning or give us a call and we can tell you which stores will be stocking it - or figure out the easiest way to get some to you!
Bogart's Bay comes to North Battleford!
We're also delighted that Kitchen Zone, now relocated to 1462 - 100th Street in NB, is offering a special blend of Bogart's Bay Organic Coffee in their espresso's, cappuccino's, americano's and lattes! We invite you to stop in and try their coffee - we plan to on Saturday, after Farmer's Market, and will be sure to take some pictures to show you next week.
