Our off-grid, charcoal fired roaster now has some fine coffee from waaay beyond the grid to roast! We've just bought our first bag of Kivu Bourbon Coffee from the Ruszi District of Rwanda. The Kinyaga Coffee Co-op is located in the southwestern mountains of Rwanda, beside Lake Kivu, the highest of the great lakes of Africa. Thirty seven artisanal family farmers own Kinyaga CWS, which processes the owners coffee cherries into parchment. As part of a post-genocide development program, every stage, from planting to harvest is done by hand resulting in a rare and unique coffee. So what's it like? When we tried a test roast, we found it to be a light, bright coffee, with a rich buttery body. |
Bogart's Bay is the only roaster offering this coffee in Saskatchewan.
We will be introducing it at our stand at the Farmer's Market in North Battleford this Saturday morning if you'd like to try some!
Until we can secure more of this very special coffee it will not be sold in stores and only be available from us directly or at the Farmer's Market in N. Battleford.
